![]() ![]() Who doesn’t like the song Man in the Box? Apparently, the people with the Slayer shirts next to me. Luckily, we were nestled safely in the nose bleed section. The arena was nice enough to set up folding chairs for the concert goers on the main floor to sit in (yes, you read that correctly). The venue was The Spectrum in Philly, the same place as the Vanilla Ice concert. I wasn’t really sure what I was in for, but I agreed to go cause I had heard some songs from the opening band, Alice in Chains. It just so happened that they were on tour and coming to Philly, so my brother asked if we could go.ĮNTER: my first real concert experience. The first album he got was the brand new Megadeth release, Rust In Peace. They have been around for a couple years at this point, but didn’t really take off until “anti skip” technology was developed in 1990. So close to what I was looking for.Ī few months later, my brother gets this new thing called a CD player. It wasn’t happy like all the other music my mom was listening to. My dad had been jamming this album Hold Your Fire by RUSH for about 2 years non stop. As fun as that was, it didn’t really hit that sweet spot with me, musically speaking. I could appreciate the melody, and sing along to all the songs. Richard Marx, Simply Red, Billy Joel, Gloria Estefan, Debbie Gibson… All the hits. ![]() My mom would usually dominate the radio, and I enjoyed what I heard. I was subject to whatever my parents would listen to in the car. At this point in time, I hadn’t formulated a musical opinion of my own. It was a Philadelphia 76ers halftime show in 1989, thanks to a raffle my mother won at work. Though the MC's fans will be disappointed in his otherwise supportive role, the album is no joke and won't diminish the anticipation for T.I.'s next solo move.Truth be told, the first concert I ever experienced was Vanilla Ice at the ripe age of 11. takes center stage, and it's also one of the better-all-around tracks. From front to back, there's little beyond threats, boasts, violence, partying, and womanizing, yet it's mostly energizing, supported by sharp - if hardly innovative - beats from several young producers (including Tony Galvin, Keith Mack, Reese, and Sapp). What 25 to Life lacks in comparison to T.I.'s string of often-brilliant solo albums is depth, but it certainly wasn't designed to offer that. And now that the self-proclaimed King of the South has blown up, proving Pharrell to be wise for dubbing him "the Jay-Z of the South," he has the kind of clout that allows him to bring his crew along for their own taste of nationwide exposure. was named by Teen People as one of the 25 hottest stars under the age of 25. Though each member of Atlanta's P$C is under the age of 25, they've been running together for several years, long before central member T.I. The title of this album, of course, is an acknowledgment of the group members' ages. ![]()
